#16 - Addiction with Hilary Phelps
Tuesday Sep 05, 2023
Tuesday Sep 05, 2023
Today I am excited to begin a series dedicated to the very important topic of addiction. My guest today is Hilary Phelps.
From the beginning, Hilary was an overachiever. She was a strait “A” student and the fastest swimmer in the country for her age group, until the age of 14, when she took her first sip of alcohol. From that moment, she was hooked and spent the next 15-years drinking, and feeling empty, lost, and hopeless.
At 29, Hilary checked herself into rehab for substance use disorder. It wasn’t just about putting down the drink, but about changing people, places and things in her life that ultimately caused her to use alcohol in the first place.
Hilary kept her recovery and sobriety quiet until she celebrated 15-years of continuous sobriety in June 2022. It was then she realized “we’re only as sick as our secrets” and also realized her mission and purpose wasn’t to stay quiet, but to help those healing in private keep going, by sharing her recovery and healing journey out loud.
Hilary is a speaker, an addiction recovery advocate, writer, and a holistic wellness coach. To me, she is an inspiration and a friend. Her mission and purpose is to help other women find their voice and heal from anything that is holding them back from finding their purpose. This episode was recorded over a month ago, but due to technical difficulties during the recording, it took me a while to get it released.

#14 - Meet the Host - An Interview with Rafael Andrade
Monday Aug 21, 2023
Monday Aug 21, 2023
Welcome a 3 Thoughts On special Episode
This podcast journey has been rewarding to me. I have a growing audience and have received feedback, and I am grateful for both. A recurring piece of feedback is that some listeners want to know a bit more about me and why I do what I do. An interview I gave in January got published on August 10th and i think this is a good start. Back then I was interviewed by Stephan Spencer who is the host of the Get Yourself Optimized podcast. I met Stephan almost two years ago at an entrepreneurial event in Lake Nona.
Stephan is very successful entrepreneur, an internationally recognized SEO expert and bestselling author. He is the author of Google Power Search, co-author of Social eCommerce, and co-author of the The Art of SEO, now in its 3rd edition and considered THE bible on SEO.
Stephan was interested in my story and invited me to his podcast. Given the caliber of his guests, I was honored and humbled he was interested in my story, so of course I accepted. We had a great conversation. In the interest of time I did not include the entire conversation, but I encourage you to check out his webpage below. There you will find the full video version of our conversation, and hundreds of other interviews with truly inspiring guests.
I hope you enjoy this excerpt of our conversation and i hope you learn a bit more about me. thank you for your support

#13 - Technology - The Role of Tech in our Daily Lives with Juan Santos
Sunday Aug 20, 2023
Sunday Aug 20, 2023
Welcome to 3 Thoughts On. Today I am delighted to have Juan Santos as my guest. Juan Santos is Senior Vice President of Brand Experience and Innovation at Tavistock Development where he leads the Marketing, Public Relations, and Resident Activation disciplines. At TDC he is part of a multi-disciplinary team that uses design thinking to build places where people can thrive.
With more than 20 years of experience creating experiences that connect people and brands through technology, he has been involved in many industry milestones, including the first worldwide webcast for Earth Day, and the first digital consumer electronics catalog for Toshiba USA. Juan is a recognized expert in Smart Cities, Design Thinking, User Generated Content, Virtual Worlds, Physical + Digital and Loyalty & Rewards.
Juan and I share a belief that science and technology are essential for man kind. If we look around our homes, offices and public places, there is not a single device that works just because. Everything around us that is manmade was at one point in time a science project led by a physicist, chemist or some other type of scientist who was working strictly for the purpose of understanding something complex. We believe that when scientists are allowed to do science they come up with discoveries that can have dramatic positive impact in human life. It may be decades before those discoveries become viable in the marketplace.
At least in the United States, it is our grandparents and great grandparents’ tax dollars that funded the science experiments that are the foundation of every gadget, medical instrument, or appliance that we mindlessly use today. Yes, without the science, nothing gets built. Juan and I believe that societies could benefit from understanding how technology helps us live our daily lives. This episode will be the first of a series focused on the origins of the Technology that permeates our daily lives today. Some of the technology comes from the space program and some of comes from other industries and government programs. We truly hope you enjoy this series

#10 - Resilience with Ultra-Endurance Athlete Charlie Engle
Friday Aug 04, 2023
Friday Aug 04, 2023
Charlie Engle is a global ultra-endurance athlete and founder of the 5.8 Global Adventure Series, one of the most ambitious expeditions in modern history, trekking from the lowest to the highest points on all seven continents. He is also one of the most accomplished ultramarathon runners in the world, completing hundreds of races around the world. His incredible determination and athletic ability was profiled in the film, Running the Sahara, produced and narrated by Matt Damon. The documentary highlighted his historic, record-setting journey across the world’s largest desert, running nearly two marathons a day for 111 consecutive days, for a total of more than 4,500 miles. Charlie’s transcontinental run through deep sand and politically unstable countries remains one of the premier accomplishments in the ultra-endurance and adventure sports worlds. After crossing the Sahara and seeing the global water crisis firsthand, Charlie teamed up with Matt Damon to raise $6M and create H20 Africa, which later became the global humanitarian organization, Water.org.
Charlie’s memoir, Running Man, (Simon & Schuster) became a bestseller shortly after it was published in 2016. While the book details his inspiring life story, it’s about more than just running. It’s about facing demons, overcoming impossible odds, keeping your sense of humor, and discovering the redemptive power of putting one foot in front of the other, even when you feel like you can’t keep going. His motivation to run and tackle extreme adventures stems from his battle with addiction to drugs and alcohol. Charlie has been in recovery since July 23, 1992, and he credits a large part of his recovery to the purposeful devotion and emotional release he experiences while running. He was also helped by thousands of recovery meetings and other traditional therapies. Charlie practices yoga and meditation, therapeutic breath work, and uses other cutting edge treatments like cryotherapy, infrared therapy and hyperbaric therapy to stay sharp and healthy. He’s also been a plant based athlete for over 20 years.
Charlie is a dynamic speaker who has enthralled audiences around the world, from keynotes at the Boston Marathon and Google to the National Geographic Society, NATO, the United Nations and the deck of a nuclear-class U.S. Naval aircraft carrier. He is also a featured presenter on Tony Robbins' Power of Success Tour. He’s been featured in the New York Times, National Geographic Weekend, Outside, Runner’s World, NPR’s All Things Considered, Men’s Journal, and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, as well as numerous podcasts and books.
