Tuesday Apr 09, 2024
Tuesday Apr 09, 2024
In Episodes 3, 5 and 7 of this podcast, m friend John and I discussed the background and purpose of classical argumentation:
- How to argue better
- how the ancients practiced it
- How Aristotle shaped it
- How leaders such as Caesar, Lincoln, FDR and MLK used it
We’ve also discussed the means/modes of such argumentation:
- ethos (character/credibility)
- pathos (emotion)
- logos (logic)
- kairos (timing)
- telos (goal/purpose)
Today we build on those conversations and discuss argumentation being battle tested by skilled opponents before judging audiences.
Enjoy!

Thursday Mar 21, 2024
Sophie Storm Roberts
Sophie is an adventure athlete, mindset coach, motivational speaker, digital creator, and personal trainer. But that wasn't always the case. at 27 years old she was running the commercial division at the UK's fastest growing technology startup. She had everything society told her she should need to feel happy, but she couldn't help feeling “Is this really it?” So in January 2013 she quit her job and endeavored to create a new story.
Today her life has completely changed and is filled with energy and a desire to give back. Her biggest passion is helping girls build confidence and courage. She Founded TrailBlazers to help girls develop the tools and communities to navigate the world and rise from the mental health epidemic we are in.
Sophie will tell you she is an ordinary woman with big dreams and a huge drive to make them happen. After spending time with her here in Lake Nona a few weeks ago, I can tell you that she does carry herself with genuine humility and grace, however, I assure you she is far from ordinary…
Her story is one of resilience and drive, and she is a true inspiration to young girls everywhere. I I truly enjoyed this conversation and I am confident you will love it as well.

#35 - Orlando Magic Gaming NBA2K with Jonah Edwards
Tuesday Mar 05, 2024
Tuesday Mar 05, 2024
Today my guest is Jonah Edwards. Jonah is the general manager and head coach for Magic Gaming which the Orlando Magic’s official NBA2K League affiliate team. For those of you who dont know, the NBA 2K League is a professional esports league featuring the best NBA 2K players in the world and is the first official esports league operated by a U.S. professional sports league, which in this case is of course the NBA.
The NBA 2K League tipped off its inaugural season in May 2018 with 17 teams, each affiliated with an NBA team. Since then, the league has expanded to 25 teams, 22 of which are affiliated with NBA teams.
Teams compete in both 3 vs. 3 and 5 vs. 5 gameplay using unique characters (not existing NBA players).
Jonah and Magic Gaming recently relocated to Lake Nona and we are proud to have them as part of our thriving community. I learned a lot about the positive possibilities of this gaming as a career and some of the intricacies of coaching an e-sports team.

#34 - Chasing Our Cure with Dr David Fajgenbaum
Wednesday Feb 21, 2024
Wednesday Feb 21, 2024
Today my guest is Dr David Fajgenbaum. David is the co-founder and President of the Castleman Disease Collaborative Network (CDCN), Founding Director of the Center for Cytokine Storm Treatment & Laboratory (CSTL), Associate Director of Patient Impact for the Penn Orphan Disease Center, and Associate Professor of Medicine in Translational Medicine & Human Genetics at the University of Pennsylvania.
David’s story is truly fascinating. While in medical school in 2010, David became critically ill with idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease (iMCD); he had his last rites read, and had four deadly iMCD relapses. During this time, David decided to find way to overcome this disease. He identified a treatment via a medication that was FDA approved for an entirely different ailment and realized this could help him with his disease. As a result of that, David is in his longest remission ever. His journey is described in his bestselling book Chasing My Cure: A Doctor’s Race to Turn Hope Into Action.
In 2022, David co-founded Every Cure to unlock the full potential of every drug to treat every disease possible. David’s story is not only inspiring, but it is also a testament of the amazing things that are possible when science and human resolve are put work work in a collaborative environment for the benefit of mankind. I know you will enjoy this conversation.

#33 - Breathwork with Beatriz Boas
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Wednesday Feb 14, 2024
Today's topic is one that i consider very important in today's hectic world: Breathwork and my guest is Beatriz Boas. A few years back, was in a quest to seek purpose in life. She tried a variety of mindset, energy, and healing techniques, and although they all helped her in some way, she felt there was a missing piece. This inspired her to combine different techniques in an attempt to fill that gap. This integration is now a new experience she named ThetaBreathwork™.
Beatriz has made ThetaBreathwork™ her life's mission and she is committed to sharing this technique all around the world through her new ThetaBreathwork Certification. I met Beatriz a few years ago in Portugal and I am very happy to share her story with you today. Breathwork has been a key component of my personal routine and I am sure it can help you the same way it has helped me.
You can find more about us at theta-breathwork.com and https://www.instagram.com/thetabreath/

#30 - Tech Update - NUVIEW's CEO Clint Graumann on LiDAR
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Monday Jan 22, 2024
Today my guest is Clint Graumann. Clint is the CEO and Co-founder of NUVIEW. NUVIEW is revolutionizing the Earth observation industry by building the first commercial satellites designed to annually map the planet’s entire land surface with LiDAR technology. This earned them a spot as One of Time Magazine’s 2023 Inventions of the Year.
For those of you not familiar with LiDAR, it stands for Light Detection and Ranging, and is a remote-sensing technology that uses lasers to measure precise distances and movement in an environment, in real time. The basic principles of LiDAR are similar to Radar and Sonar in the sense that All three technologies emit energy waves to detect and track objects. While radar uses radio or microwaves and sonar uses sound waves, LiDAR uses reflected light, which can measure distance faster, with greater precision and higher resolution than either radar or sonar.
You may ask, why does this matter to me? Well, Satellite imagery helps scientists keep track of how our planet’s natural and man made environments are changing. The detailed topographic maps this technology can generate can be used to assess hazards and natural disasters such as lava flows, landslides, tsunamis, floods, as well as other Environmental and conservation situations. Outside of that, use cases include Archaeology and cultural heritage and preservation, as well as Infrastructure construction and urban planning.
We live in times where technology is blamed for eliminating jobs. It is companies like NUVIEW that use technology to create a new generation of jobs that can help us take care of our environment all while improving our quality of life.
As a Lake Nona resident and entrepreneur, I am excited that NUVIEW chose Lake Nona as their home. I am a proud resident here and I am excited about the contributions this community is offering in the fields of technology and health. Clint and I had a great conversation and I am confident you will find it interesting as well. And now, Clint Graumann
